I have been working on adding the descriptions of the paths to virtue. I started with St. Catherine of Siena. Her three step bridge is a great image of our spiritual progression.
The second path is St. Hildegard of Bingen’s Pillar of the Humanity of the Savior. It is an amazing model for the progression in virtue. I first read it a couple years ago, and have wanted to write about it since then. I hope you find St. Hildegard’s pillar as inspiring as I did.
The third path is from St. Therese of Lisieux. Her little way is a wonderful path to virtue. It is so simple, and yet can guide anyone in the spiritual life, from a beginner just turning to God to individuals far down the path.
These three approaches on the surface are radically different. Each looks at our faith from a different perspective. Despite that, their advice is the same. Humility is the key. We must renounce worldly desires in favor of virtue. Love and humility go hand in hand, and the result is joy.
I’m going to work on adding a few other paths over the near future.
